I was listening to Janis this weekend while cooking. We had a fairly large party to do and the blues is good to work with. When your feet are hurting and your legs are sore and you want to complain, you realize, it is not going to sound as cool as these blues guys.

If you think about it, they found a way to make whining a beautiful artistic expression., Where, the rest of us, we just sound like annoying little brats.

Back to Janis, she is one of my favorites. Her raspy guttural voice rips right through you. I remember, I first started listening to her when I was 12 years old. She was one of my first albums I ever bought. Though she was long gone, she was new to me. She was my first introduction to the Blues and I have loved her ever since.

She is the queen. Reminds me of the speech from Bronx Tail, “The saddest thing in life is wasted talent” We all stood by and watch her slowly killer herself, as we did with Whitney and Amy Whinehouse. Why is it that often times, the most tortured artists produce such beautiful works.
